Stalled a bit, due to having a pretty busy work schedule and a sudden heat wave (about 35-36 Celsius) hit my area for my non-air conditioned ass sapping away motivation. Not to mention I've been researching FFV stuff for the LP I'm going to hopefully start tonight. My allergies and the heat woke me up early today, so hopefully I can write a chapter today before work and get my momentum moving again. Glad the Bible is working out for you, and yeah, you should only use it for backstory, listing locations, and defining the world in greater detail. My Bible contains a premise/simple synopsis, a timeline of event leading up to the start of the story, a general description of the major factions, a character sheet section with descriptions, and a glossary of terms used in the story with descriptions. It's about 35 pages and growing at this point. I mainly just use it to keep my head straight on details in my story. I'll need to start thinking about designing a map sooner or later since geographical elements of my story are now better defined.
So working on my world’s Bible has been great so far. Though I’m trying to confine it to backstory and lore a I’d really rather avoid making a plot outline this far. Rather, I want to create a framework so thT everything that happens in the book is the result of previous events in one way or abother. Hope this works. How has your progress been?
That's why I write a bible/design doc alongside my larger novels cause lord knows I had to look up the ranks of a few characters and realized I still haven't filled out character sheets for secondary people while I was writing last night. I also need to finally start working on a map and where places are, cause I'll make up a city in an early chapter, decide twenty chapters later to reference it and realize that I forgot what I called it and still haven't quite pinned down where everything is. The bible makes all of this so much easier, and you just write and shift it as you go along.
Nice. Whenever you’re ready to run it by me, I’ll be happy to read it. Judging by my own pace, it’ll be a while until I get this done to that degree, sadly I wanted to pants this whole thing, but I think I might need to actually have to sit down and make a diagram or something. I still want to avoid a detailed outline, but I kind of need an anchor, I think. It’s kind of hard to keep track of all the places so far and I am being very reluctant when it comes to actually naming stuff.
Yeah, I feel trying something new is what made me hit a wall with the chapter I was stuck on. I turned it into a more surreal sequence which gave me too many options. I'm back to being a bit more grounded and I get to look forward to not only finally getting the plot going forward, but introducing two of my favorite characters.
Haven’t written in a while since work and other real life stuff kinda got in the way (plus filling out that Pokédex is a commitment), but I am actually writing at this moment. Hit a bit of a wall since I’m deliberately trying something different with this section, but we’ll see. Hopefully it’ll get better soon
Well I'm happy that I've been pretty productive with my writing lately, which is largely why a few of my threads went dark. I don't mind though, I finally got past a section that was giving me trouble in Soul and now I've written what might be two of my best chapters yet. How is your writing going?
Well that's pretty cool. I heard good things about the new seasons.
So last week we finished season 11 of the X-files and we’re really happy with it. All of it was even better than season 10.
It helps a large part of the staff who did the earlier seasons came back to work on it.
