  1. Just the wife and me, plus the cat and baby in the womb I guess Spent one entire day cooking but now I don’t have to move a finger in the kitchen for the whole break so that’s neat.
  2. Just spent it with family. How about you?
  3. Happy Ishtar, Wolf Doing anything intersting over the holidays?
  4. My proudest achievement in the first chapter was figuring out a clever way to get a background info dump out to the reader by having the characters have a chat over breakfast while the radio in the background played out the info dump. I also abused the fact one of my characters is technically psychic to tell another character's backstory without a monologue. She simply starts "falling through his memories" and it's told in a disjointed way.
  5. Omg that’s a lot XD But I know the struggle. I always have a problem after my initial chapter which I start in medias Red because it’s gripping and exciting like that, but after that it’s always exposition while walking. I really need to fix that.
  6. It's why my story is actually slowing down cause while it's a new draft, I'm revising parts I've already written. The worst part is realizing that I'm wasting my time and expanding when I really should be editing cause I feel the biggest problem with the new draft is the pacing is very sluggish. I took a part of the plot that was once about fifty pages and tripled it.
  7. I’ve never really done actual revising. I’m really looking forward to that tbh
  8. The first draft is sometimes the most rough. Though I sometimes feel revising is much worse.
  9. It’s crazy how the gaming industry is sometimes.

Meanwhile, my minimal gaming diet seems to be working. I play Pokémon HeartGold much more like I used to as a kid (I.e. prioritizing catching them all and just having fun along the journey rather than fine tuning a team from the get go and basically rushing the story) and I’m having way more fun and actually feeling like a kid again. But best of all, I am writing again. It feels very frustrating that all these characters that are so alive and driven in my head come across as very flat on paper, but I try to grin and bear it and force myself to accept that this is draft zero and everything will get refined once I get to revising.
  10. Two great titles don't really make up for the load of crap they released at the time including a licensed Wacky Races game. I feel the PS1/Saturn era was actually pretty good with Persona being created as well as Devil Summoner.

Konami was largely an arcade and licensed game powerhouse in the 90s until Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill on the PS1 hit and made them more prominent with IPs. Not to mention Suikoden I and II. I feel the PS2 is when they really released a string of great hits. Capcom just alsways goes back and forth. Like Konami, they had a strong presence in the 80s and early 90s with several high profile Licensed games on console as well as major arcade smashed like Street Fighter and console superstar Mega Man. Then they ran those franchises into the ground until Resident Evil on the PS1 made them household names again and they released the more memorable MMX titles. Then they burned those franchise until Devil May Cry and Okami on the PS2 until they... well you get the point.
