  1. I don't know about Canuck, but I would warn someone for calling someone else a redneck, depending on the context.

And I will tell you with a straight face that I don't think he's gotten an unreasonable amount of leeway. I don't think he's that bad. You're free to disagree with me, but it is how it is.
  2. That's all I wanted to know with regard to the perceived insult. I still find it difficult to believe it is one anymore than calling a Canadian a Canuck or someone from the deep south US a redneck would be (and context does matter), but fair enough.

And let's be honest here for a minute, every time Cuch says something bad or gets in trouble half the staff line up to make excuses because "it's just Cuch being Cuch," but it stopped being that a long time ago. I used to actually like the guy and thought he was all right for a long time if rough around the edges. But I don't think anyone could say with a straight face that he hasn't gotten a hell of a lot meaner and more insulting over the years. If you guys want to keep turning a blind eye to it then fine, I don't have a vote anymore, but we passed ridiculous months, if not years, ago.

You can't honestly tell me he hasn't gotten a lot more leeway than the majority of other members would get.
  3. Leprechaun is an Irish slur, whether you are sensitive to it or not. As you yourself pointed out, insulting members is against forum rules. The degree of the insult is hardly relevant.

As to when he'll be banned... When we agree with you. Right now, we don't.
  4. Okay. But I'd at least like to know how what I said can actually be considered an insult? It's certainly not something I'd consider on anywhere near the same level as what Cuch said at the very least.

And somewhat related, is he ever going to get banned? I'm asking honestly. He rarely has anything to say that isn't a snide remark or an outright insult, and generally makes the forums a much less friendly and enjoyable place when he's around? At what point is enough enough? How many second chances has he had at this point?
  5. Fine, I'll snip you both then.
  6. I think there's a big difference between an obvious (and rather lame) joke, and just explicitly insulting someone. Even if there's some cultural thing I'm missing here where leprechaun is a terrible insult in Ireland.

The rules explicitly say that insults aren't allowed. If you think I somehow crossed the line as well then feel free to snip me too, but if you're giving Cuch extra latitude because he's Cuch then I take issue with that. If you're not going to enforce the rules when someone was clearly being mean spirited and insulting rather than "ribbing" then why are the rules there?
  7. When you call an Irishman a leprechaun, don't be surprised when he calls you fat. Ribbing is a two-way street.
