Yeah, I'm really dismissive of how a show can be entirely by the art style. If nobody on my screen looks older than twelve, it probably isn't worth watching for more than twenty minutes.
There's definitely some troutty loli fanservice stuff around (actually the majority is) but there are also some great stories. NGE is very good, and Hellsing is pretty neat.
Just a lot of the mainstream stuff they'd show on TV and bits and pieces of what my roommate's got. Hellsing and NGE are probably my favourites.
27 episodes. It starts a bit slow, but gets better each episode. You are familiar with anime btw (or manga), have you ever watched anything else before?

It's basically a tale of courage thrown up in an exaggerating yet awesome hyperbole. It's considered one of the best anime ever, and well, let me tell you, it definitely is. (certainly on my top-3, along with Code Geass and Evangelion.) You MUST watch it, if you ever get the time, it's really brilliant.
What's the anime about? I could benefit from something new to watch.
Yeah, I could see the similarity, but just in the figurine, in the anime itself, he's a bit different.
