I revel in the violence of the show. Probably a little too much. Episode 5 was good, but yeah, if that was too much for you then the human cello, human totem pole, and some others would probably disagree with you. And that's without even getting into season 2.
I wish I had the stomach to watch all of Hannibal, but episode five made me physically nauseous and I've been told it only gets more disturbing from there. Brilliant show, though. Mads Mikkelsen is amazing.

I wouldn't be surprised either. Each time we think the story can't get worse it turns out we were wrong. I won't be surprised by anything at this point. I'm strongly tempted to pick up Radley Balko's book, though I know it'll just end up enraging me. Then again this is a topic worth being enraged about.
I think I may have given that cop too much credit by implying his facial injuries might have been accidental. With a town full of cops that bad I wouldn't be surprised to find out one of his buddies hit him to fake the injuries.
