  1. oh so that's where I read that.

    more nonsense!

Now my dad is saying welfare (subsidized living) lowers crime. because now those ppl don't steal. This is probably true too.

edit - semi but un-related welfare recipients commit crimes toward the end of their pay period due to mismanagement of funds
  2. Interest rates aren't something I've really studied that well, but to be honest when people talk about them half the time I'm half convinced they're just making tit up. But yeah some schools of thought seem to think that high interest rates cause increased foreign investment, which I guess could be considered "foreign investors taking all of our moneys". Here's one explanation. Increased foreign investment wouldn't always be a bad thing though.

  3. you should lay the smack down one of these days. party time!

edit: I was telling my dad that I'd prefer the government to raise interest rates (savings...though both rises together, right?) but he said that makes no sense [to the gov't?] because with a high interest rate for savings, foreign investors can take all of our monies O_o

what's he on about? did i even make sense xD
  4. yeah I probably should have emphasised the "we're all dead in the end" bit a bit more

regarding minimum wage, I p. much agree with everything you said. I haSorry it took so long to respond, I've been too scatterbrained to collect my thoughts coherently. I had some other thoughts but I couldn't really express them and can't even remember all of them now.

  5. You were doing fine when you said we're all dead in the end. But then you had to ruin it by being all positive.

    PFFT

  6. oh I read that stuff about production based economies - I just was under the impression that a strict service industry or heavily service industry would not benefit [or not as much] from raises in minimum wage, because it does not go back into production - I'm just biased in thinking that production is the best, but i'm sure if you raised minimum wage (or had a negative income tax - intriguing concept) it will help people who otherwise are struggling.

Basically I think we agree - I don't think minimum wage has the effect of causing massive inflation, but there has to be a limit. #OWS has this jay peegee of a person demanding jobs as a right with a 20 dollar minimum wage. That's like 40 grand per person. Craziness.

  7. I have a bad habit of learning something, getting religious about it (or fanatical, actually). Then I stop studying it, and then I adopt reasons to dismantle it.

Wait did I say bad habit? Anyway I would love to see something in mises.org say 'some government intervention can be good' - there's some stuff there that's pretty seriously argued - like how blackmail is just 'selling information', so I'm afraid your suspicion is pretty right.

I just like them because I'm against government printing money and for some reason I was led to believe that's the keynesian way, but really that's just bad practice no matter what. And couldn't you get hyperinflation with gold standard? just print more gold redemption notes than there's gold until somebody wises up. It's all nonsense imo
  8. Note that I added some tit to that post you just repped after you repped it Also probably going to bed for the night so take care
  9. Oh they're not always terrible but claiming them as an objective source is p. stupid, they very clearly have a bias against all forms of government interference which in many cases isn't warranted. They seem to have gone from "government intervention sometimes smurfs things up" to "government intervention always smurfs things up" which, yeah, seems like an overreaction. Granted I haven't read everything on the site so its possible that I've just been given a bad impression by the tit right-wingers always link on it

  10. wtf do you have against the mises institute >: [
    *attacks you*
