You can do the loving part, but the squeezing is right out of the question. Couldn't you show your affection with a friendly pat of the head, or by sending a greeting card?

Be careful not to smother them. I read an entomology textbook once that advised specifically against this.

Do caterpillars have capillaries? If they do I bet they are adorable.
