Yeah, that's exactly what I try to do. Some of the in-line comments are really nitpicky, but I also know that you get more karma the more you write in that, so The funny thing is that the one super positive comment had the least words, I don't think the lady even got a single karma point for it, she just came in to shower me with praise, which was great. Oh yeah, people also cannot agree on whether you should use single or double quotation marks. They say "oh, double quotations are only used for children's stories", and I just wanna say, "look, you filthy limey, I know you're too busy sipping tea to notice that people beyond the ocean use English too and the standard for dialog there is to use double quotations, but go on, keep correcting them on how it's colour instead of color. Or you could just, you know, accept the fact that English is an extremely heterogenic language
Some people can get pretty harsh. Might be best to try and filter through it to see what the common critiques are as opposed to taking each thing said by different people
Yeah. Though I won't like, it was pretty thankful. I thanked my critiquers because I am really happy someone paid attention to it, and all but one said they enjoyed my story overall, even if they hated a lot of things about it (some were pretty cool and objective, but others were blindly subjective, like I think I know better if my protag needed to be kind of a narcissistic asshole or not; like, I get that you may not like unsympathetic protagonists on a personal level, but that's not an objective writing flaw), and I was told I respond very well to critique, but thinking back on them still makes my stomach turn a bit. I really need to get used to it.
That makes sense. At least you were able to get some extensive feedback
I haven;t written since the critiques, because I want to make progress in my novel before I get prepared to post it up. I'll probably post Spark up before I move onto the novel, though
