No Japan if you're part of the group you can't take over the world How about if we do it anyway
They brought in stuff like clocks, and guns, and JESUS
That was some good historing "Try this new religion" "No" "Try ittttttt" "No" And so the new religion was installed
On a brighter note!
Yep. It's pretty... disheartening.
This is what most annoys me about the Internet. Everybody has an opinion, and everyone, in the face of a tragedy, always has a solution or says "I would've done that". And it's even more interesting when you consider that over here we cover Holocaust literature (like, actual stories written by people who have been in death camps, remember Nazis built death camps in Poland and they're still here and I've seen them and it baffles me how there can be Holocaust deniers) and people still think like that. Even though we spend over a year analyzing books the message of which, based on actual events, is that everyone can become a monster in the right circumstances, everyone still thinks they're Superman. Ania and I actually recently talked about folk psychology and how people usually just don't recognize that anecdotal data really carries no actual value and despite people having access to a whole datascape of knowledge, most still rely on what they feel is right. So I think no amount of reading or lectures can sway most people unless they really want to learn and admit that the world is far more than what one person can observe.
It is. Its especially depressing because I've seen and heard people irl that have said things like "We should kill all muslims because they're evil" and there are so many parallels in this book that have led to some truly horrific things and... I mean, its scary
Yeah. I've attended lectures about that stuff, but never really read anything about it. Scary stuff.
I might check it out some day I am now reading The Lucifer Effect by social psychologist Zimbardo which discusses how good people can do bad things if the situation and context allow for it, such as the genocide in Rwanda, or the holocaust of course, or the soldiers beating, torturing and humiliating prisoners for the lulz, etc. It's depressing as all heck but I think it's important to learn so we can be more aware of our situations and realize that under the right (wrong) circumstances, we're capable of doing things we would rather believe we wouldn't.
So I just finished reading Career of Evil, which is the third book in J. K. Rowling's detective novel series, and I actually think you'd enjoy it! The books keep getting better and better, with the third one being focused so much on the main characters, with the female protagonist getting so much development. I think you'd really enjoy her. She's my favorite character now and I'm glad this book focused so much on her.
