Conversation Between Fynn and Wolf Kanno

  1. I don't know, I remember Xenoblade 1 being a late starter as well since I feel the plot really doesn't pick up until Melfia joins, and that's like two-thirds of the way in the games plot as well when you think about it. Don't forget Takahashi is kind of infamous for climax fatigue as well.
  2. So X’s story seems to be picking up. I mean, about time, since I’m 2/3rds of the chapters in. I mean, it’s not like the rest is bad, since I love the story the game builds just around the world and the quests, if that makes sense - you get a feel of what the stakes really are through the non-linear aspect of the story, the whole stuff I mentioned about humanity cooperating etc. but now the linear bit of the story has reached a sort of climax. Honestly, though, it still kinda feels like not a lot. Like the climax of a Takahashi game’s first act, rather than the whole thing, if you know what I mean.
  3. Thanks. I’ll try that.
  4. Then maybe you should work on research for awhile instead of trying to force the story. You wanted to base some of it on historical elements, well Wiki/tv trope it until you get some more ideas.
  5. The same thing doomed my last project. Had a lot going on and couldn’t do any substantial brainstorming lately. Need to turn that around.
  6. You might need to take a break and work on another project.
  7. I know. I’m definitely not giving up. But figuring it out along the way can get pretty overwhelming.
  8. You need to lighten up and stop letting your inner perfectionist keep you down. I mean if 50 Shades of Grey can be a thing, I'm sure your story will have its audience somewhere.
  9. Sure it’s unlikely. But it’s a nice thought.

Meanwhile, I feel like the thing I’m writing has gotten the trouttiest yet. I really hope this doesn’t keep up
  10. Sounds awesome, but will likely never happen. I'm pretty much at peace with the idea that Xenogears will never see the light of day outside of a few nods in SE games, a new arrangement of the OST, and popping up on critics "overrarted/underrated" lists.
