I get that with movies. It's why I haven't seen Frozen or a few others like that. And TV. Game of Thrones, etc. When it gets elevated to a certain point I just feel weird about it and it kills any and all interest. Maybe I'm worried it won't live up to the hype, I dunno I'm not usually like that with video game though
Do do you experience this kind of thing There's all the DAs and MEs you mentioned, and things like Undertale, that actually seem like something that would interest me on paper but... A lot of people I know just keep gushing about it so much that at this point, instead of feeling joy at the prospect of trying something new, I'm more like "uughhhhh I guess I'll have to play it eventually, and I'm probably gonna be annoyed with all the things people love and then people will get offended etc etc". Heck, I'm even cynical towards Pillars of Eternity, even though it's essentially a Baldur's Gate, because my wife kept gushing about it and people on the Internet have been comparing it to the Second Coming of Christ or something. All I think about lately is Dragon Quest and SMT, and I somehow get annoyed with how people just elevate these games. Idk, maybe I just feel better liking a niche thing? So what's happened to me? Did I become hipster or something? I didn't even know that was contagious
