It’s not that bad She’s got a bit of a cold but she got a doctor’s note anyway because she’s rather protect her health now for... reasons Man you keep bringing up Matsuno in your threads and I only keep getting reminded how much the Witcher reminded me of it when I played it. It looks like I may need to make a deal with Lucifuge and exchange my eye for your wanting to get into the series X is great so far, I just wish I had more time. The holiday break really spoiled me
Sorry to hear your wife isn't feeling too good. Though great you've got some inspiration for a new story.
I think I may have a solid idea for a story so if things go well, I might write it today. Then again, my wife got sick so that changes plans
It always sucks when that happens but it happens I'm afraid.
I used to do that and had a good run for like a year, but then I stopped and I don’t really know why. Probably because my blog was visited by a whopping one person. Hope I can return to that, though. So far, I’m actually enjoying the silent avatar. I’m coming into it pretty much expecting this is going to be Elma’s story and I’m just a viewpoint character, and I really think that’s fine. I do kind of regret I’m going into this game after playing The Witcher 3. Mira may be a very imaginative world, and it’s a single map which is incredibly impressive, but after the Witcher’s meticulous attention to detail (including the fact that the game world was pretty much fantasy Poland and that gave me a very special feeling) as well as the very realistic character motions, it’s kind of a step back, but I’ll probably get used to it soon. TW3 was also amazing when it comes to side quests, while I heard X is much more the standard open world JRPG/MMORPG “bring 30 bear asses” quest structure, so I just hope this doesn’t bother me too much. Did I mention the Witcher has probably ruined gaming for me? Almost half a year has passed and I’m still comparing every open world game I play to it
That was one of the major criticisms I heard about the game as well. That and the game should not have had a silent protagonist. Glad it was relaxing at least and you got a chance to unwind. I could seriously use that right now as this time of year is usually really stressful for me. Good luck with your writing as well, and I like the idea of getting a short story written every week. Good motivation.
I’m not really far in X yet, since I didn’t really have the time to sink my teeth into it, but I like it so far and my only real criticism is that the game is huge with a ton of different mechanics and informations that you’re kind of overwhelmed with from the start without any real explanation on what it all means. The first game was fairly simple and clean by comparison, but I hope I’ll get used to it.
Glad to hear work on your novel is progressing! I guess we’ll discuss these things more in detail once I get back to the magnet conversation (which WILL happen, I promise!) My holidays were much better than expected and I’m beginning the new year in good spirits. I had a chance to really unwind and the fact that I managed to get the Wii U to my new home in one piece is just the cherry on top. It’s also a turned out to be a blessing I disguise that I don’t have a separate tab and have to plug the console into my PC monitor, since now I sit closer to the screen and can read every bit of that tiny text perfectly My main New Year’s resolution mainly involves writing. I’ll do my best to get back to writing and posting a weekly short story again, just to really start working on my skills again and flex those creative muscles (also, Neil Gaiman has kind of reminded me why I love shorts as a form in the first place), and I definitely want to at least finish the first draft of my current novel by the end of the year. Here’s hoping I can keep it up.
How was your holiday?
Ozma, is interesting from a story standpoint, I'm still trying to raise her levels to make her worthwhile in battle but it already seems to me like she's built to be what the Rune Fencers were suppose to be, a decent Red Mage type build. Raveness has been also kind of underwhelming but I blame it on keeping her in a underwhelming job class, I should just bump her into a White Knight and forget Lans companions. I actually ended up getting my English patch to work and started playing the original SNES version of the game, and despite being significantly more difficult, as I feared, I'm enjoying it a bit more mechanically. I can't fathom why Matsuno dropped training mode from any of his games as it feels like the perfect system to really test out the Job Class System and party builds. Mostly I've been screwing around with FFXII:TZA. Maria's arc is kind of boring, but Japan seems to love her for some reason if disproportionate amount of fan art she gets is anything to go by. I do happen to like Wings, but it's not my favorite track in the game either, though I do feel it's the highlight of that sequence, even if it was used better in Disc 2. I also happen to love the Thames, but I like the levity it brought to the story. It was getting pretty serious and grim up until then and it was nice to just have something kind of fun, besides it justifies how the party was going to reach Zeboim. I happen to really like Disc 2 the way it is myself. I usually feel the game's combat system finally loses its impact about the time you reach Solaris, so reducing the dungeon crawls never bothered me. I feel my only desire to see the Disc expanded would be for the chance to actually use Elly's Omnigear (and perhaps get Maria and Emereldas) give better resolution to the Kislev arc and Rico since it's obvious there was a lot more going on there; and I wouldn't mind seeing more about the Diabolos incident from Laca's story arc, as it would have been interesting to learn more about Bart's ancestors and Grahf's war. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing just a bit more of grown up Abel to be honest. None of this are deal breakers and I prefer Xenogears cutting branches to really focus on the important core parts of the plot, but I wouldn't be bothered seeing some of it expanded either. My holidays were okay, I've been mostly brainstorming ideas for my one novel we were discussing and finally getting back to Soul as well. I've nearly completed the timeline draft in the supplement materials which will help me out.
