Conversation Between Jiro and Ultima Shadow

  1. That was cheaper than I thought!
  2. Trade up, just for you.
  3. Excellent observation! You need to anticipate and understand your opponents' choices in cards... I am beginning to master this game without even playing it!
  4. That's what makes TT interesting though. Sheer outpowering alone gets a bit dull after a while.

What kind of cards are good for same/plus also depends a lot on your opponent's cards. But since the two strongest and most common numbers on the boss cards are 7's and 8's, that's two numbers the opponent is likely to use a lot. And if he/she isn't, then it will be easier to outpower your opponent unless he/she manages to pull off a crazy plus/same combo that still beats your better cards etc. And so on.
  5. Finding that balance between sheer power and ability to match sides isn't easy. It's especially hard when you think of the fact that you need two adjacent cards with values that are the same or can add up to the same as your cards. Like. Wtf. Mindspin.
  6. Yeah, I didn't get the plus/same rules either, until my second playthrough of FFVIII. And yeah, thanks to plus/same, Jumbo Cactuar can actually be better than Tiamat sometimes exactly because it is 1 point weaker on one side. Those double-4's can be quite handy.
  7. That's what did me in I reckon. I only played Open in FFVIII; I could never figure out Same/Plus there. Now that I get it here, I need to develop my style with a completely different level of card. Goddamn. I'm looking forward to getting a few more cards out into circulation though!
  8. I have to figure out ways to use it myself. It's a great power-card, but it's harder to come up with solid ways to get it to work with plus/same.
  9. That's some impressive skills. My problem is that I only played with Ifrit once previously xD I don't have any effective strategies for these cards yet! Time to work some out so I can get it back off ya
  10. The big, bad problem was that I had 3 potential traps all ready and set up as soon as I played my Ultima Weapon.

Tiamat could get same or plus from either of the two spots with my own two cards, if one of them were to ever get flipped (and if dragged out, there would be plenty of combo-potential too), and then the Torama for that one other spot. And no other card (except for another Torama or similar lower-level card) in the Torama's spot could have flipped my Ultima Weapon, so the obvious "weak point" of my Ultima Weapon was the 2 etc. Oh well, get some more level 6-7 cards, make a good card strategy, and then try to win it back.
