It's pretty easy to do. I patch my clothes all the time. If you look at it logically you can see exactly what needs to be done with the thread, anyway. Exactly how the thread should be threaded.

Anyway all you need is a needle and thread and some material to patch if that's what you're looking for. If the hole is small enough to simply be sewn together then the extra material won't be necessary. Depending on how good of a job you want done you might want to ask google or whatever your preference of search engine may be for some help with technique.
