  1. Awesome
  2. I made falafels this weekend for the first time and they were delicious!
  3. I liked the movie, I dunno I do like the themes I've read about with Silent Hill, so I would be very interested in seeing someone else play but I dunno, might be too scary for me :P

How goes your day and how was your weekend?
  4. Silent Hills has some puzzles, but Silent Hill is all about the psychological horrors. The town itself is a purgatory of sorts that twists itself to reflect the darkest elements of the psyche of the person visiting it. So the monsters are kinda abstract, being manifestations of some unresolved psychological issues. It's all very well researched and psychologically fascinating.

The movie... yeah, I haven't seen it, but I heard that it's abominable. The story is changed (which would not be bad in and of itself) so that the main character is a woman, because apparently the director said that no dad would go look for his daughter, that's a woman's job, and that's BAFFLINGLY sexist. And the movie also relies on gore, which was never really the point of Silent Hill. Sure, there is some gory stuff in SH 1 and 3 (not so much in 2 or 4), but what is there is subtle, just to make you feel a bit uneasy and not just baffled by the campiness/squicked out.

Also, the movie uses Pyramid Head and the sexy nurses, which have no place in that story because they were explicitly made to represent the repressed sexuality of James from SH 2. Unless Rose is actually a closet lesbian with a repressed sexual drive, those monsters in that movie do nothing more than provide some surface level fanservice.

So yeah, the movie is just not indicative of the series at all.
  5. I... I've watched the movie if that counts....?

    Hello....?

I might watch sharky play and see how it makes me feel. He likes those games I think. I always mix them up with Resident Evil but I think Resident Evil is like the zombie one with the absurd puzzles? I don't like absurd puzzles. He likes both series though, I think
  6. From my experience, your first horror game is always the worst in that regard

Still, never play them alone. And if you ever DO decide to play Silent Hill, i recommend playing them in order. I've only played 1 through 4, so I can';t really comment on the others, but for those four their order works the best, as you get 3 that heavily relies on 1, and 4 that relies a bit on 2, but they're all actually in-continuity with each other and more stuff makes sense when they're played in that order. 2 and 4 are my favorites.

  7. That's exactly the game for a depressed person let me tell you

I might play it one day. I'm still jumping at everything from this game though so it'll be a while if I do
  8. Silent Hill 2 isn't really that scary in the conventional sense.

It's less about OMG THAT MONSTER WILL KILL ME (although sometimes that happens too), and more about "life is tough and aren't we all dead inside, held back by our sins and we're all so alone in this world" scary
  9. HAHAHAHA

    no

is too scary with the... with the pyramid head and stuff
  10. Awesome!
