I can vouch for II for sure. I think you'll like it. Anime aesthetic, colorful world, lots of character interaction, with some dark moments thrown in here and there

I have no clue. I've only ever played Grandia II. Which is pretty awesome, by the way, and you should try it. It's FFX done... better, at least.
