I personally am not a big fan of Sakaguchi. The games he works on have generic battle systems and contrived stories. I think he held back Lost Odyssey from being a much better game, and Blue Dragon was straight up insulting in the plot and character department. For me the Final Fantasy series didn't get good until VI when he wasn't poking his dick in it as much anymore.
