FDR: Very determined to stop the Nazis, did a lot to help the Allies even before Pearl Harbor brought the USA in properly. Ike: Controlled things from the background effectively whilst publicly looking like only a figurehead. Excellent ability to get things done (And they were non-partisan things that were judged on merits, not ideology!) without causing division in the country. Nixon: Despite his Watergate failings, he was a truly gifted and brilliant man who did several great things in office, most especially improving relations with China.
