Excellent. Well, we'll see how it goes. Their next instalment was Operation Raccoon City which was pretty much Left 4 Dead in Raccoon City as far as I am aware, which is not quite the survival horror of Revelations.
According to Wikipedia: The Nintendo 3DS version of Resident Evil Revelations sold 296,040 copies in Japan in 2012.[46] In the United States, it was among the 25 best-selling video games of February 2012 and moved 122,000 units in March 2012.[47] Kawata said that, "going by the 3DS market", the game was "definitely a success" despite Capcom's wish to sell "a little more".[48] The high-definition versions of Resident Evil Revelations have performed well with combined sales of 1.1 million copies worldwide.[49] It's certainly no flop. Jill and Clare are two of my favorites from RE. I'd like to cover their games at some point. Next year's Women's Month if not sooner.
We should do a Resident Evil set theme thing once the GoT nonsense is done. I will be... someone. xD Jill or Claire. You can definitely see that in the way Chris' and Jake's campaigns play. Trying to make it more shooter-esque. But at the same time, they apparently wanted to include something for the old fans, so Leon's campaign (and portions of Jake's) covers the survival horror part. Like I said, they spread themselves really thin - so made a sub-par shooter, and a sub-par horror game. So nobody was happy. Hopefully ol' Capcom will have a revelation much like Squeenix did with their "Old School RPGs are still popular!", and bring back some creeptastic RE. I may have just been really crap at Revelations, but I spent most of the game running around on half health with like absolutely no ammo. That in itself was definitely a step towards the good old days. It definitely leant towards a more survival horror game. I'm not sure how well it sold, but hopefully well enough to send a message.
The main reason I'd play it is to play as Sherry because I love Sherry. I read a little while back that 6 was CAPCOM's attempt to compete with Call of Duty. That's their game plan with RE now, to compete with COD. Which is stupid. You shouldn't make games with the sole intention to compete with another. Have you played Resident Evil Revelations? I heard that was actually good.
They spread themselves really thin with RE6 - trying to appease all walks of gamers, and ended up with a game that excelled at nothing. Leon's campaign was quite tense and very survival horror orientated, so I can understand the sentiment of your friend. Chris' campaign was very much run-n-gun, and Jake's was somewhere in the middle. Matt and I clocked in at 50 hours playtime before we had finished 2/3 of the campaigns, so although all the campaigns were just okay, they certainly were not short. And for what it's worth, I really enjoyed it, and that made it all okay. :3
Good point. You played RE6, right? If so what did you think of Leon's scenario in the game? I heard from my friends that 6 could have been a good game if they just stuck with Leon's story so I was curious.
How bad could it end up, really?
Uh oh, now I've done it. I just had to go click on the RE4 topic. Hi.
