Like I said, objectively it isn't the best. It's minimalistic and the cast is less memorable. But it actually has an official love story unlike a lot of the Tales games and it's very sweet. The themes are interesting and, as usual, the relationships between the cast are strong. It's shorter and has less side stuff to do, focusing instead on the larger story. The gameplay is par for the course, very similar to the other Tales games, and it suits the Vita well
What do you like about Hearts R? How comparable is it to the three games I've played?
Yeah I really liked Hearts R. Objectively I don't think it's one of the best, but something about it just clicked with me
Yeah, I think I should give Symphonia a shot. It definitely looks like it has aged poorly though for sure. And it would especially be a little jarring for me, considering I've only really enjoyed the recent tales games. Also Hearts R is your second favorite? Wow. I have a Vita, is it worth me dusting it off to play? :P Maybe I'll get around to the Tales series this summer. Right now I just have a ton of other games to play. Currently working on Dark Souls.
Nah I haven't played them all! I've played Symphonia, some of Legendia, Abyss, Vesperia, Graces f, Hearts R, Xillia, Xillia 2, Zestiria, and Berseria I love Symphonia but it has aged rather poorly. Still, it was kind of the game that made the modern Tales series so if you don't care about rough gameplay and stuff it might be fun to see where the series came from. Vesperia was good but yeah it's a shame it's Xbox 360 exclusive here. Graces was good, but to me not as good as most of the other ones, and Abyss was pretty strong. They're all good games though, in my opinion! My rankings would probably go something like this: Symphonia Hearts R Xillia Berseria Abyss Vesperia Zestiria Graces Legendia
I've actually played almost all of them, haha. But the only ones I've beaten are Xillia, Zestiria and Berseria. Played Abyss, Vesperia, Graces and Symphonia, but I never really got far in any of them. The furthest I got out of all of them was maybe a few hours in Abyss and Vesperia. I'd love to go back to them some day, but Vesperia in particular isn't on the NA PS3 so I can't play it. Maybe I'll consider getting Abyss on the 3DS. I also have Symphonia Chronicles and Graces f on PS3. They've just been collecting dust on my shelf for years though. Have you played any of those 4? Are they all worth me going back to? I'm guessing you've played them all. :P
