  1. yeah, it really was smurfed up. Everyone at school got really pissed off at him, and he's already kinda stolen my friend's acoustic guitar, so we all just kinda gave up on him.

Yeah, I'll think about working on it again in a month or so. For now, I'm working on video games and video game musics~
  2. Aww, man. That sucks, I'm sorry. But good thing you're motivated!

Oh, wtf. That's smurfed up, yo.
  3. Woo, more listeners!

No! I really wish that I did though. I lost it, as well as a lot of my older music, when my old computer died. I might revisit the project sometime soon! This discussion has sparked some motivation XD

Yeah, and now my drummer's gone off to Gainesville. He and I aren't on speaking terms; he posted some of my best lyrics on Myspace as if they were his. He recorded them in Tampa and didn't even ask for permission or anything. It was really screwed up. There's no way that I'd be able to pick up and go to Miami now though, even if GOOSE got back to me, so I guess that there's nothing to be done.
  4. I added you!

Lol, do you still have a copy of that? I'd like to give that a listen, too. But I know how you feel, I suck so bad at writing lyrics.

Daaamn. That's pretty legit. I wish I would have gotten offers to come play shows in a bigger city, that'd be awesome. Lol, GOOSE.
  5. Gah, another one that's too long! Maybe I just need to chill out. Read this one first.

Well, you can check on http://www.myspace.com/whatshouldamanfear for updates. The updates don't come very often, but when they do come, they'll definitely be there.

Well, it's fun! I tried remixing a FFX Piano song once. I put a kick-ass beat in and was gonna put vocals on top of it, but I gave up on it when I started trying to write the lyrics XD

I had a concert in Orlando in April 0f 09, and there was a guy in the audience who worked at the place where we were playing. He approached me and the drummer when we were breaking down after our set and asked us straight up if we wanted to go to New York to play some live shows with him. We were like, "Wait, who are you?" He went on to say that he was a rapper named GOOSE and that he rapped with big-time rappers and stuff. I didn't believe him until he said something along the lines of "You may have seen some of my work in the NFL games."
  6. Well, my grandpa plays the NFL games religiously, so we checked and, sure enough, pretty much all of the songs were recorded, edited, sang by, or had some involvement with this guy GOOSE. We tried getting in touch with him again, and he told us about how rappers are changing their "style," and that the best concerts are when they have live music, rather than prerecorded music, and that he wanted that too. He said that he wasn't going to New York though (I guess he changed his mind in the two days between us seeing him and contacting him), but instead staying in Miami. He was going to call us up a week later to schedule a meet-up day when the drummer and I could hang out in the studio with him and his recording buddies, but he never got back to us.

I've never been a big fan of hip hop and rap, but stuff like Nujabes really gets to me, and I'd love to write some like that.
  7. Sweet! You'll have to let me know when you get it all squared away then, I want to give it a listen.

Cool, cool. Sounds like fun. Lol, I've considered dabbling in some rap/hip hop myself now and then.
  8. I dunno. It's all good though; I'll have a bass with which to record eventually, and then my album will be recorded! Well, I'll record those songs that only need a bass XD

I write mostly heavy, melodic music. I take influences from Japanese and Korean bands, but don't stray too far from English roots. I've written some classical stuff, some silly funk stuff, and even a little bit of melodic hip hop XD
  9. That sounds like a long and difficult process just to record some bass. Why are none of your friends willing to lend you a bass for a couple of days? Which reminds me, I need to yell at my friend to ship my bass back to me. >:[

My main instrument is guitar, but I can play bass and drums fairly well. I like bass, but for entirely different reasons. I like playing funk on it, whereas I like rock on guitar.

And yeah, that's it. I pretty much write rock/metal music for the most part. Although I do some acoustic type stuff that I've been messing around with, but that's for the ladies. /smug

What about you? What kind of stuff do you write?
  10. This is the second usernote because I did not think ahead of time!

I play mostly guitar. I like the feeling of a bass, but it's too stiff and heavy for me to play seriously. I'll compose tracks for a bass guitar, and they're really fun to just play around with, but I couldn't do it in a band; electric guitar is my forte. I can play some piano and percussion, and that's pretty much it. I've never played a violin, but I want to SO BADLY.

Now that I'm on the topic, I'm going to rant for just a second. I have an entire demo album completely written. I just keep adding tracks to it now; I'm at 14 right now, where I think it'll stay. Only one song isn't completely finished, but I can't record them yet because I don't have a bass! Gaaaargh! My friends have them! A few of them have even offered to let me borrow them! But they always flake out!

Anyway, what kind of music do you write? Is it primarily music with a rock influence, like the one in the thread?
