IKR, I think some people believe what they want to believe. I don't want to believe that SE (or specifically FF) has lost its edge, either. But it is what it is.
I know I do, unless I say Snow is trout, or start criticizing Square Enix as a whole; then people line up to list off all the good games Square made in the past ten years and remind me that it's a different culture and that somehow defends them from criticism.
Old curmudgeons don't get lynched, unfortunately, that would at least be exciting. Old curmudgeons just get ignored.
