  1. I'm constantly curious over the motivations that people have in complaining. Having lived with non-family members for several years, I have met many who feel it is their unquestioned freedom to verbalise in great exuberance the many unfitting ways their life has apparently failed their expectations. Livejournal is notorious for this as well. Curiously, it is typical of these types of woes to focus upon trails which are simple to rectify. Consequently I respond to said demands with utmost sarcasm and pragmatism. Such responses are rebutted with anger and animosity. It is as if one complained for the purpose of complaining, only to perpetuate the cycle ad nauseum, until the redundancy of the issue wears itself out (or the person becomes uninterested). Soon after another issue arises.

Such people crave attention. It is simple enough to understand. Most noticeable is the onslaught of people readily capable and willing to provide said attention, thus perpetuating the ability to re-enforce this negative behaviour. Both parties are benefitting from this repetitive game of praise-the-whiner -- the attention-seeker is affirmed of self-importance, and the attention-giver is affirmed of self-worth (at giving attention). Both parties stagnate mentally, forever unable to move forward in their lives, as problems presented are responded with wonton verbiage.

It should be noted that pointing out hypocrisy in others is a typical argument to support continual stagnancy.
