It didn't work? You just jump. If you can get underneath something like a bridge or a sign post or a fence (but you get stuck usually) you can execute the jump and then it slows and you can land without dying.
That guy just tries too hard.
Jumping off a cliff is usually the best option. But you usually need to do that several times. But I still had one of those super human jump scrolls left, and I put it to good use.
