Well, at least levels aren't everything in this game. If you don't have good gear or have mastered the combat enough, the lower-level quests will still potentially be a challenge, so it's not like it completely wrecks the flow of the game
Yeah, most open world games I know have balancing issues. XV was hit pretty hard with it actually.
If I were to have any gripe with the Witcher, it's that it has the same problem that I encountered with Xenoblade (and which I assume many open world RPGs struggle with - if you do all the sidequests, or at least most of them, you become overleveled. There's always a recommended level for each quest, and even though I always do the lower level ones first and the sidequest exp is incredibly negligible, I'm still level 20 now when the recommended level for the main quest is 16.
