First of all, we SHOULDN'T be able to smoke and drink. These activities serve no purpose other than deteriorating our health, eating our money, and--more often in the case of alcohol than in all illegal drugs combined--destroying families, friendships, and generally ruining lives. I was a perfectly content college student until I found out that I liked whiskey perhaps a bit too much.
When it comes to more potent things...do you have any idea what kind of downright hopelessness comes with it? Have you ever actually had to walk into a crack house to drag a loved one out before they got in over their heads AGAIN, then talk them out of their suicidal ideologies while they went through the pain of withdrawl? Or for that matter, taken something and gone through withdrawl yourself? You seem to think that there is a responsible use for these substances. I'll tell you straight up that you are wrong. I don't know whether it's out of naivette or ignorance or whatever else, and I don't care, either. You're not advocating a "health for pleasure" trade. You're promoting death, illness, poverty, rape, prostitution, murder, robbery, and all the other things that come when someone is either high, going through withdrawl, or are desperately trying to get that next fix.
You have NO idea what you're talking about. I DO. I've seen these things happen. I've experienced it for myself. It's not a matter of opinion or statistically-reinforced book learnin', but raw truth. Do NOT try to be intellectual when you have no knowledge of the subject.
