I know. I'm not even entirely sure of why I do hate it as much as I do. Though I can theorize on that. But Litten and Torracat were great. I feel like they're the ones I should pick because they're awesome. And while the owl is great... I dunno. I would just feel like I was settling for it. I would be disappointed the entire time I'm playing. The starter choice has been weighing on my mind since my friend convinced me the original leak of that design was real, and I haven't been able to think of much else when I'm thinking about the games. Now that the design's confirmed, I just don't think I'll be able to see past it. If I get the owl, I'll know I only got it because the cat sucked. I'll be bitter about my starter the entire time. I think this really did just ruin the game for me.
Dude, chill. It's just a Pokémon design! There's two other perfectly good starters! Heck, pick the owl and you'll get to beat up the cat you hate so much There's so much good things about this game. Really, taking a Pokémon design so personally when a company really couldn't care enough to try to consciously hurt you is just... counter-intuitive.
And now I'm seriously considering just not getting Su/Mo. I just lost all the excitement I had for the game. The last thing that could rescue the tiger was if it had good animations, but they're even worse than I was fearing. I just... I dunno. But I don't feel any sort of anticipation towards it anymore.

Btw, my wife just started playing The Witcher, and here's a PSA: while the game uses a device to make the game world and characters accessible to new players, it is actually a sequel to the books. So if you actually want to read the books, best do it before the games because spoilers
