You should, it';s Chrono Trigger's gameplay with a better version of FFX's plot without most of the bulltrout.
Still need to play I Am Setsuna one day
They have a very Joe Hisashi vibe to their score. I wish they would let Tomoki Miyoshi compose stuff for SE instead of couping him up at Tokyo RPG Factory.
In unrelated news, I’ve decided Naoshi Mizuta is an underrated composer
Yeah, another thing with the Witcher they could copy is quality over quantity. And while I largely agree with you, I think Xenoblade X makes much more sense in terms of giving more side content than main content, since in that game where the main plot is so decentralized the side quests kind of become the point
Honestly I never had a problem with the car. My issue with the quests is that while it was fun to have some colorful NPCs give them out, having them have about ten of the same such quests a piece was exhausting. The thing about side quests for me is that their volume should not equal or exceed the volume of the main campaign and that's where games like XV and Xenoblade lose me.
I think the main gripe people have with XV’s world is tied directly to the car. Since they had a car that can travel far, the world had to be bigger, but also didn’t really have to be too filled out, so many criticized it as barren. Now, I personally didn’t mind that since it made it feel unique, but I feel that with XVI, since this is a very barebones medieval setting, I doubt they’d go the same route. So chances are it’ll still feel more compact. And tbh I still think XV’s was pretty well-made. It was just kinda dumb how the majority of the quests and exploration were pretty much made for the postgame instead of being more organically integrated into the main plot. The Witcher 3 was perfect at this since it was literally impossible to tell the main quest from the side quests sometimes instead of sheer importance to the world and characters. Going by how hard that game was to ignore and how desperate SE are to appeal to everyone with FF, I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually did look at it and try to implement some of that. Of course, could be wishful thinking
I feel both us will be disappointed.
It’s probably gonna be open world I imagine. But hey, if they’re aping the Witcher in other ways, maybe they’ll do quests like them too and it’ll actually be great
Ah man, I don't even want to think about a quest system yet. I kind of hope the game doesn't have a sandbox style open world. It was okay for XV, but I'm not sure if I could handle another game like that. Seriously, I know I'm sometimes a broken record about it. But I wish SE would steal some more ideas about world design from Dark Souls 1. Proof you can have an open world with quests can feel organic, granted it also means you can easily miss said quests cause the game refuses to telegraph them to you, but for the sake of immersion I'm willing to go for it.
