IV DS is significantly different from the original (and the definitive version, imo). I don't really know why. It's the interesting touches added to the battle system, the revamped art style, and the character motions and voice acting actually add a lot of weight to what was previously quite a silly story at its core.
I noticed! So you're getting to the games in the series I've actually played now =P (though then again I haven't played IV DS...)
