Conversation Between Fynn and Wolf Kanno

  1. The game certainly isn't without its charm, I'll admit
  2. I like that they are kind of wacky. It doesn't help the series reminds me of Harvey Birdman: Attorney of Law, which itself got a Phoenix Wright knockoff game for the Wii some years back that I still need to play...
  3. Yeah, it is pretty stupid. The investigation segments really dragged for me as well, tbh

This is weird, because I love the Danganronpa series even though it also follows the formula of "investigate->trial", but it works so much better because it's much more dark and twisted (but still in a light way), which I think just works much more for stuff like that, and the trials themselves are much more action-packed.

I still kinda respect Ace Attorney for really making VNs a thing here. I just really don't get why the series the degree of love it does. The puns are what really kills me though.
  4. My main beef with PW was I would often figure out the final solution to solve the case before doing the minor puzzle work needed to reach that point. So I would keep trying to use the evidence needed to end the case but the game wouldn't accept it because I hadn't done the first part of the puzzle.
  5. Oh yes, it does drag, definitely. It could've all been paced much better, especially after the very balanced VIII. But alas. I also really felt that I missed out on a lot due to not having access to multiplayer.

I also think the first game was decent, but that last case was just waaaay too long for me. It really wore me down.
  6. While I'm not a huge fan of Phoenix Wright, I got a lot of enjoyment out of the first game. I'm simply stuck on the last case because it's the obvious "addition" to the DS remake of the GBA version because the first four cases fit really well together, so I was less invested and kind of moved on before finishing it.

DQIX really didn't do it for me, it has it's moments, but I was pretty worn out by the end. It certainly has some bad ending fatigue, didn't help I was playing Xenosaga Eps. 3 at the same time and it has the same damn problem .
  7. Ooh, that reminds me! I've actually beaten all the numbered DQ games (minus X). VIII was fantastic, IX was pretty cool but yeah, I don't really like that there's such a big focus on the post-game and multiplayer. Would've liked the system in the main game to be more involved! But I liked how the story went by the end a lot. I enjoyed the fact how this game seemed to be way more inspired by the Bible than the others.

Ugh, Phoenix Wright... I've managed to push through the first three games but then just gave up on Apollo Justice. I mostly just forced myself to play them because I know my brother wanted me to. I honestly don't get why they're so loved. And they just get more stupid as the series goes along. They do have their moments, though, with Trials and Tribulations actually having some very satisfying character moments (too bad the actual cases are insane kangaroo trials at this point)
  8. Technically Phoenix Wright is my next handheld game. I've been trying to finish up a bunch of games I started but never finished. I started with DQIX and RW was next, followed by Phoenix Wright and 4 Heroes of Light.
  9. All good games tbh Aside from RW maybe. I'm having a similar problem with Icewind Dale 2 - I do like the game, though, it's just that I've been playing it on and off and it's been taking forever to finish, and I can't move on to other games I'd like to play like the Witcher or Devil Suevivor 2, or heck, replaying SMTIV since I don't have Alocalypse yet.
  10. I know that feeling. Bloodborne has been consuming my time lately but I picked up Persona 5 not too long ago and know it will be my next game and will likely keep me from getting anything done for awhile. I'm so behind on my MegaTen games as well since I still have Soul Hackers, SMTIV:Final, and Persona Q to play through. I'm trying to finish up Revenant Wings at the moment but the game is so dull and I'm too stubborn to quit.
