I'm still in the dark about some things, but I also feel the trailers gave me a good idea of where the plot was going to go regardless, so I'm not expecting too many major surprises to be honest. Course I feel the series needs a more down to earth plot after the nonsense that was the XIII trilogy.
I've accidentally spoiled myself on some stuff in XV and I find it so sad that people are really bashing its story while praising VII's, but after replaying VII, I really feel like what I've read about XV is miles better.
X is where my marathon will end. I will also replay X-2 later, but not as part of it. I know there are good things about XIII, but the problem is that game was incredibly tedious even on the first go, and I'm not sure I'll ever be ready to relive that. Heck, I love FFVI, but it was hard enough to play it just a bit over a year after my last time. So even if I ever do decide to replay XIII, it won't happen in a long while.
Welcome to the FF dark side. I like VII as well, but yes, it has too many problems for me to accept it the same way the fanbase does. Hell even my fave FFs fall short of the praise they get so I don't let it bother me. On the brightside, perhaps this new insight into VII will offer even more insight into VIII and IX. Also, do you plan on doing FFX and XIII eventually?
I still like it, I just really kind of have to face the fact that half of it is really bad. And it's kind of really hard to accept. Not because I want it to be good - it was never my number one favorite. but because people have built up huge expectations for a series based on a game that isn't nearly as good as we remember. I think VII is the exact point where the fanbase fracture happens, because this is where many people enter and come to expect things because of it. And the saddest part is, though I still like it, I really don't think this game is worth it.
How so?
So replaying VII has been very... sobering
I'll get back to it when I finish the summon tournament.
About time.
