You never know, maybe trout will get sorted by then. Fingers crossed.
Indeedly. Well it turns out that the background check won't be done until after the holidays because international. So I will try to put it out of my mind until then!
Well, not much I can say other than keep trying to get that license thing worked out for the future. Can't be fun, but what else can you do about it right?
You would think that having it there in person right in front of their faces would mean more than a background check or a computer, but apparently not . As soon as he told me I had the job pending a background check my heart just dropped. It was a good paying position too .
Gotta love government bureaucracy. Can't get anything right.
It can. I need a license for the job but whenever I try to get it transferred (my Ontario license to an SC license that is) I basically get told my license doesn't exist. Even though I have it right there. And it is valid until 2016. And I even still have my temp license on me to show. And whenever a background check is done (which thankfully was only once before) it also says my license doesn't and never has existed. So I look like a huge liar. So yeah it has been pretty frustrating.
That's weird. Is it just an issue related to you being Canadian and somebody not being able to figure out what the hell's going on? I'd imagine not being a citizen can create a lot of paperwork headaches in unexpected places.
Well the thing is I technically have the job, pending a background check. But there is something funky going on with some of my paperwork (my license in particular) that I have not been able to sort out yet. And that's going to show up on my background check, which will most likely make me lose the job. And me trying to explain the situation will just seem like lies and excuses. I mean, I'll try to explain, but I doubt it will do any good.
Of course I care! Glad you got it printed. I hate dealing with printers so much it's not funny. So many different types, always out of ink. Bleh. And you know what? Calling the guy back for an update on the job isn't a bad idea. It shows you're taking initiative, that you want the job, and both of those are good things to demonstrate. Even if you don't get it, follow up calls are rarely a bad thing. Sometimes they can make all the difference in landing a job.
Well, I am not entirely sure you care but I finally managed to print what I needed (turns out I was using a laser printer and I needed an inkjet printer, and luckily there is one here also) and I think I can bowwow an iron from sharkys aunt. I tried to call job guy about job because I hate the waiting but he was in a meeting.
