Decided to leave Yuffie behind. At least for now. Though I'm actually considering not picking her up at all because I'm angry I couldn't find her and she's still my least favorite party member in VII
Oh it's got a great world map, VIII and IX's always felt a bit too empty at times but VII's was pretty compact and always had some secret goody waiting for you.
Same here. Mostly IX, really. Though I have to admit, I think the world map design was the best in VII. I really like how varied the topography is,despite the horrendous graphics. It really helps bring some charm to the world.
Nostalgia is a wicked beast and for many VII represents their gateway into the genre or even gaming so you'll just have to suffer with the rest of us who agree it's quality is overrated. I usually have a hard time getting through when you leave Midgard as well. Midgard was just just so interesting so the wonder of finally being thrown out into the world afterwards wears off pretty quickly. Especially when it's not nearly as engaging as where you came from. The flashback was interesting, but nothing cool happens until you reach Junon and after that, I feel like nothing interesting happens until you reach Nibelheim. Cosmo Canyon alone has killed many attempts at a playthrough for me. I'm literally at the final dungeon, just finishing up some sidequest stuff I couldn't do in Disc 2 and I still can't bring myself to finish it quickly, especially after going through the plot hole that is Disc 2. I'm honestly more hyped to play VIII and IX at the moment.
Yeah, I know. I got all the materia on Red, Cloud and Aerith, and they've actually unlocked some Limits already, but idk, I'm kinda just tired of it? Which is weird, because up to this point I was sure I really liked FFVII, but now it just feels kinda... eh. I don't know if it's the XV thing or just me being a bit burnt out by the marathon - again (playing these in succession, especially when you remember them, is really tedious) - or maybe or is it just that I'm much more conscious of its flaws. Idk, maybe the compilation just ruined it for me for good. I had a chuckle today when I watched one of the reviews for FFXV and the guys were like "So is the game's story as good as FFVII's? Of course it's not." I nearly spit out my drink. HOnestly, the story is engrossing enough, but it has all the trappings that make JRPGs so hated today. I really can't understand why it's put on such a pedestal. Still, I think it's more deserved than X, but that's a whole other story.
Which is hilarious cause I seem to never have that issue getting her. Just stick to the forests and grind some materia/limit breaks.
Eh. Worse things have happened to people I'm actually regaining interest in FFTA and The Witcher is actually starting to get good! FFVII, however, has lost me completely. Trying to hunt down Yuffie near Junon is just terrible.
I'm already annoyed I have to avoid the FFXV forum since a few members seemed to have some inside source and got the games early. Well whatever, it is what it is. I'm sorry you're hyped for something you can't play for awhile, I felt that sting last year with MGSV. Many of my playthroughs ended because of similar circumstances. Hell, my own VII playthrough ended once I got Setsuna.
Sigh... Well, I really envy you. Because of all the XV hype, I've lost a lot of enthusiasm for the three games I'm playing right now - FFVII, FFTA, The Witcher. It's even worse that I know it'll probably be still some time before I get to play it.
I have it pre-ordered, but chances are all wait until the patch/update finishes downloading first before I play and I have notoriously bad internet, so it probably won't happen on Day 1. Still gives me time to complete all of the side missions and final area of Setsuna.
