Trust me man, I've gone through an unpaid co-op program before too. The experience will be worth it in the long run I'm sure, but it was still depressing. Luckily, one of my professors (who I had taken a class with every year I was University) told me about a really good paid program, and needless to say, he definitely did me a favor. And yes! I was hesitant on saying this (not entirely sure why), but it isn't about fancy descriptions or fantastic metaphors on every level of thinking. That general sense of adventure, or that interesting concept, coupled with tons of twists and turns and tons of intrigue will ALWAYS win out for me. That's why I can't disregard my past stuff, even though (just like you said), I end up disowning it every time I start writing. I will always cringe at the stuff written, but the underlying story almost always ends up being more enjoyable than any 'serious' stuff I've come up with.
Those co-ops sound like a really damn good deal. I stayed with Goldenboko for a week over spring break and he was talking about his co-op stuff as an engineer and how they're basically rolling in dough immediately afterwards until they blow it all on booze. Our internships here are good experience but unpaid so it's not quite the same I know what you mean about the cringing, every six months I write off everything done prior and "start again" but sometimes there's more to a story than just how it is communicated. There's that underlying sense of adventure that you just have to capture, a good concept can do more than the pages its written on. I don't know I was trying to be poetic there but I'm kind of too hungry to focus xD
That is awesome man! Good luck with finishing up your degree and joining the working man's world! I'm finishing up Uni as well actually, but I'm doing a co-op thing as well just for extra experience/money, and I'm definitely enjoying it. Hopefully both of us reach the lofty but achievable goal of 100 billion dollars :P But seriously, thank you man! Looking back at my old stories though, I couldn't help but cringe! That said, it is fun to keep the 'dream job' of writing scripts for stuff (specifically video games) in the back of my head just for fun. People like you and I get right down to the nitty-gritty, so I'm glad that I get you man, because you know what? You get me, good sir
I've been busy! Lots of things happening for me, lots of changes! I just finished my whirlwind America tour after my semester studying there, and now I'm about to start my last semester at uni so soon I will be one of those "working adult" types. Not if my creative streak can make me a millionaire before then! I'm looking forward to seeing what you produce, because your work has always managed to kidnap my attention. I don't know what it is but you get me, man, you get me
Not too much man! I missed this place to death and I am enjoying being back I also have a new story/idea that I'm going to be starting (just for fun) so I hope you can enjoy that whenever I post/start it How have you been! I missed you
So what's doin' in the land of Trumpet Thief? How've you been, man!?
Holy crap it's you
You need to come back and finish Seiken Wave.
