  1. The thing is, the first time I took him on in new game+, he wrecked me. Eventually, I got his moves down and it was AWESOME. I didn't do it for the bragging rights, it was because I wouldn't have the final fight to my favorite game of all time be any other way. The fight was epic, tense, fun, and hard as hell. If I could get it recorded, oh you're right, I'd get that reaction without a doubt.
I've had years of practice with the game, so it's not like doing the run over again will be challenging, I do them all the time because they never get old.
At most it takes me a half hour to get back in the hang of things. It's such a damn fun experience.
As a kid I always shied away from the challenges in a game, even if my brother and friends told me over and over again that I was more that fine for it. Thankfully though, games like Serious Sam taught me that challenge can be fun, and with that, I went on to nuzlockes, R&C No-armor, and Dark Souls. I'm a sucker for hard games now.
  2. See for the uneducated, that just sounds like an unnecessary amount of effort for little reward. But I know what it feels like to achieve something you thought was impossible, and that feeling of self validation is unbelievably good. But if you can be awesome and better than everyone else as well... You're going to make a lot of people simultaneously impressed and hate you. It will be so worth it
  3. I hope it all works out.
But yeah, I've watched every video of no armor fights of Ratchet and Clank 3 and I'm always like "he really had to resort to that overpowered weapon? He had to use the shield? Pssh, he isn't even that good at dodging"
Once I get good recording equipment, I'm thinking of uploading a walkthrough of my own, to show people how a no-armor run is really done.
No cheap tricks, no overpowered guns, those are too boring.
(the last boss on new game+ seriously kills me in 2 hits, it's a long fight, and the attacks are similar to that of a bullet hell)
  4. I can't access anything and the harddrives have been sent to a friend of a friend's place for possible data recovery. I hope to jeeves it works man. I think the save should be on my C: drive at least, so it should be fine.

I definitely agree with you on the entertainment value. There is always something more exciting about revisiting something and making it harder for yourself and still nailing it like a pro. Feels good man
  5. What's funny is, the challenge runs not only renew the entertainment, I think they increase it. They breathe new life into the games, and then some. It's pretty awesome.

Ha, that sounds a lot like my schedule.
There's still time to save the uh... save, I would think. Try moving it over to a large enough usb? Or a separate, smaller external?
  6. Oh yeah, I can understand needing challenge runs for games you know back to front. Otherwise you just don't get as much fun as you used to as a kid

I'm good at getting to the end and stopping too. Haven't beat FF7 yet despite having approximately 5 end game saves. Those are all gone thanks to a combination of errors etc as well as wanting to restart and do it better. I'm really hoping my PC save isn't dead despite my external harddrive where the ISO was saved dying.
  7. I'm really good at getting to the very end of the game... and stopping. For absolutely no reason.
So many games that I haven't finished. But the ones that I do finish, I play time and time again. Like games from my childhood I know inside and out, so challenge runs are necessary for me to enjoy them at all.
  8. Finishing games alone is hard enough for me, challenge runs are just too out of my league. I feel so incompetent as a gamer sometimes
  9. The plot thickens! -credits roll-
Gosh, I'm starting to become a serious addict of doing challenge runs on games I played a lot as a kid.
    I can't stop.
  10. I'm pretty sure Peegee makes up 50% of the forum's registrations. We don't have an issue with adbots; we have an issue with Peegee
