  8. In case you didn't notice, the way you word things is almost always retarded.

    Negative consequences aren't always in the form of punishment. If you eat too much, you get fat. No one is punishing you, it's just a negative result of bad choices. Teaching just punishment avoidance is bad though. For example, you would want your focus to be on teaching your child "if I do well in school my parents trust me more" rather than "if I do poorly in school my mother will hit me."

    A child is never too young for your focus as a parent to be on positive reinforcement rather than punishment avoidance. It's how you raise an intrinsically motivated adult.
