Someone sums up Suikoden recruitment in each game: Suikoden I - "hey, wanna join my army?" Suikoden IV - "hey, wanna be part of my boat?" Suikoden III - "hey- oh! half are auto recruited" Suikoden II - "hey, I accidentally recruited a giant octopus" Suikoden V - "the smurf?"

Those are funny, but I also switched the roles of the men and women in those scenarios, and with a lot of them a guy would have been slapped with sexual harassment or labeled some kind of creep. Because of that, a lot of us instinctively don't assume anything because even when it seems obvious, if we're wrong, we're in trouble.
