  1. I love the idea of "he'll do it if it comes up". xD
  2. What I meant was he's not dealing out food at a homeless kitchen. Like he'll do it if it comes up but he's not gonna go out of his way.
  3. He totally was killing bad guys and helping the needy! Though, in fairness, his method of helping the needy was mostly just killing bad guys. Except someone would thank him for it.
  4. xD agreed.

I've got basic comic book knowledge but I know that the Punisher wasn't killing bad guys and helping the needy in his spare time. I don't want to feel like I've gotten to know the Punisher better in the hour and a half I've spent with him.
  5. I wouldn't say I'm an avid fan, and I certainly don't know all the ins and outs. But with The Punisher that isn't necessary. There are only two ins and outs, and they're both bullet wounds.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say every comic/film would be improved by stricter comic-bookness. The Watchmen ending was fantastic, and although I've never read the series myself, it seems to me that it would have worked much better than a giant illusionary space octopus. But Watchmen has a point. Spiderman has a point. Even X-Men has a point. They all have plot twists and are genuinely well written. Punisher is BOOM brilliant, and that's all it is.
  6. I couldn't have put it better myself.

I think they're catering to the group of people who want to see "love interest" and "happy endings". We who practice the way of the book of comics know and expect better. Maybe we should be writing these scripts.
  7. I just wish people would stop trying to put meaning into it. There is nothing there. The story is: his family is murdered. He dies inside. He decides to kill bad guys.

That's it. Stop fannying about trying to make a two hour chick flick when the fact is the reason The Punisher is awesome is because he kills an ungodly amount of people in a ridiculously short amount of time. The causes of death are often brutally hilarious.
  8. I dunno man, I dunno. The first movie, while utter , was not half as bad as the second. I mean how can I take these borderline gay villains seriously? The only time I actually thought I saw some vengeance ass kicking in this movie was after Newman from Seinfeld got taken out. And Thomas Jane as the first Punisher? Come on, he's way to feminine and his face never seems to have any emotion. It's like someone painted a face on a rock.
  9. inorite? I genuinely didn't think it was possible to make a movie about the freaking Punisher turn out bad. I mean, here we have a NORMAL BLOKE. And not Batman normal, but genuinely just plain old vanilla cop. PLain old vanilla cop seething with rage and vengeance, that is. A completely and utterly normal man who, at one point, required multiple SUPERHEROES (i.e. people with superpowers) to stop him semi-righteously beat the unholy out of some random dude who coughed without covering his mouth or something.

I mean...Jesus, how does someone make that not-badass?
  10. So no more movies? You've done us a great service!
