There's also a much less problematic way using your 2DS. It has built-in sound recording and editing software that you can export to your SD card, and then plug into your computer and upload to Vocaroo!

Yeah, that's the only way I found so far. Those 3,5mm, female to female jacks are cheap and easy to obtain, from what I gather (way cheaper than getting a mic), and I suppose you can just use it as a mic to record straight on vocaroo.
