Well I'll start Ruby in the meantime, not like I need to transfer anything since I can't. Going fire rooster.
Yeah, there is a certain charm in playing them in order.
I do find it funny that my copy of Blue works perfectly fine, yet a game released later can't hold a save. I guess it has to do with how much love it got. I played through Blue maybe three time now, whereas I'm sure this copy of Silver saw a lot of action if the wear and tear of the cartridge is any indicator. Still, I kind of like the prospect of getting to be Mr. Fix-It again. I'm still proud of myself for replacing my PS3 battery and cleaning out my PS2 after taking it apart. My only annoyance is that I won't be able to start Silver for awhile. While I have Ruby to play, I was definitely more invested in Silver.
Yeah, all the extra fluff is meaningless if you can't have functionality. The battery is not as big an issue in Ruby, though, since saving doesn't use it anymore. You'd just have a screwed up clock, so no berry growing and no evolutions based on time of day.
Replacing it doesn't look too expensive, I'm just worried about screwing up the game. I ruined a decent PS2 controller the last time I was trying to replace stuff, but maybe this won't be too hard. It's a less expensive option than trying to buy a new one or getting my hands on SoulSilver cause their prices are ridiculous on amazon. Thankfully my copy of Ruby had it's battery replaced, though it does mean the cartridge doesn't have the artwork anymore but whatever.
Aw man, yeah, it does sound like your internal battery's busted :/ But I heard you can replace them somehow, but that means you'll most likely end up spending more money on that.
I'm not sure, but I think my copy of Silver might have a bad battery. I played a bit today and I'm pretty sure I saved my file, but when I booted it up later, the file was nowhere to be found. I'm playing again right now, and it did save initially but I'm not sure if it's something where the battery goes out when it's inactive for awhile. I'll find out tomorrow. My copy of Ruby also showed up, and while the intro was interesting, I really do think Gen III might have my least favorite set of starters in terms of aesthetic. None of them strongly appeal to me.
I may need to pick up a new GBC since mine seems to not like to work anymore, but I don't think they will be too hard to come across or have a pricing issue in the used games market. I do want to trade them into Silver if only to get the Trade Evolutions. Though I've borked this game pretty hard, so I'll probably finish Silver first before bothering.
As for myself, I barely got my fifth badge. I actually got whited out for the first time in the game. The fifth gym leader has That One Pokemon on his team. Seriously, if you don't keep your guard up, he'll one-hit-KO your whole party. It was ridiculous.
Awesome! Do you have a way of trading your dudes into Silver?
