  1. I now remember that Black and White did one thing really well - the importance of HMs was severely reduced. You basically need to use cut once to progress the story, while it just serves to open up optional areas later in the game, while strength and surf aren't mandatory to progress the story at all, with surfing areas being completely relegated to the post-game.
  2. Gen4 was really the greatest offender in that regard. Gen5 then dialed back to the level of about gen3, and the gen6 literally only added three.
  3. Man, glancing over at TV Tropes, it seems like Legendaries just exploded in the later games.
  4. Oh, right. Since Gen 4 all legendaries seem to always be dragon types. Which has really devaluation dragons from being this unique superpower to a commodity.
  5. Well I've heard people whining about the Legendaries all being some psychic combo as well, so it's not just the Fire Starter getting heckled.
  6. Yeah, it seems fitting! Looking forward to it!

As for the fire/fighting typing, I heard they were going for a theme for the three fire starters, as all of them are based on the Journey to the West (or whatever that story was called). Honestly, I was a bit disappointed to see it happen again, but the fact that we have three has kind of grown on me overtime now that Fennekin's evolutions were Fire/Psychic
  7. I'm sure it's just the fact it was done three times by that point. I mean if you want to give him a second type upong his last evolution, make it something they haven't seen before, especially since by this point, you can get the old starters so why would you need three Fire/Fighting types? There are rumors that the new starter may end up being a Fire/Dark combo, which is kind of interesting.
  8. It is the best choice for those battles after all.

On another note, really, for all the hate it gets for being a much too overused starter type combination, the fire/fighting typing for Tepig's evolutions is actually very handy!
  9. Well I did whip out my Kadabra for Sabrina and Fuga.
  10. We'll see how long it'll take before I cave in. You're basically given a Pokemon with a type advantage for the first gym for free, but the second gym is actually a surprise difficulty spike even if you do have an advantage (which you probably don't at that point), so I'm getting mentally prepared for losing a lot.
