Yeah. That's what I've been working on, rewriting last years nano. I only got like 13k words in, or three chapters. I am up to 8504 at two, which added about 2k to my original piece and was a bit mroe of the showing not telling.
Everyone is just desperately trying to look smart. You have to look at it that way. Hey, even I am trying to look smart So yeah, keep your chin up and just keep writing! From what I saw glancing on your chapter, you got some good feedback! Wolf's joining motivated me to work on my own writing, so I'll start by rewriting my first two chapters and posting them there, and then I'll continue writing and keep posting them. Hopefully, I'll finish it with that. Though I think I'll poist my V-day story first. Another one I;m quite happy with, and it'll also probably get slammed, but oh well Although it is a tad more conventional than Franco, so who knows?
Thanks! I was was thinking about a specific character of mine who just talks differently. When I read the line outloud (I do this to see if things flow right) I put inflection in my speech but realized that the writing doesn't reflect that. So I thought i'd ask.
haha right. I just have been trying to write more lately and so I thought to bring up things somewhere that I was curious about myself and the people happened. Haha I don't like socializing, people aren't nice. I think it's always, obviously I'm excited about something and happy, friendly even and then people come and ruin my happy buzz. Writers do this a lot... and fans of things.. and well... people are kind of grumps everywhere. I don't like social media at the moment it seems haha. FF fans, WoW fans, whatever fans haha people are just grumpy everywhere on the internet it seems!
But wow, how did that turn into a "JRPGs suck" discussion?! On that topic, you can see that people's opinions are divided, and they always will be, and everyone will have a solid argument against something (which is why I completely resent people say there is one particular means of writing that is desirable and people should strive to achieve it. UGH, people, don't you know post-modernism already happened and killed that attitude????). You know me - I think there is a place for everything and it's up to you - and only you - where the place for those types of italics is.
Shhhh. It's okay. They're just voicing their opinions. Even if they're super pretentious and wrong, they're still just opinions. It's up to you to make that field a little less pretentious! With you, Pumpkin, Wolf and me there, there's at least four unpretentious folk
I made a thread on scrib and I feel like i'm getting those pretentious vibes. Why are writers like that? I'm getting a "well if you have to do that you're not writing well and are bad at it" kinda attitudes. WHY DO WRITERS DO THIS? Whhhhhyyy
It's important to have balance, is what I think I'm getting at
Yeah. Of course it's difficult, it's your baby, and it's important to be open-minded. But then it's easy to go the other way and just listen to what everyone says about it and treat it like the Gospel when it's really not. Some things just speak to some people more than others
Also yeah, I have a problem taking criticism. If I step away for A MONTH and come back haha it's better. That knee jerk of "i'm not wrong!" when it comes to my writing though. Dannngg i'm bad. I'm trying to get better about it.
