Conversation Between Fynn and Wolf Kanno

  1. Yeah. I'm not too miffed, though. That Hanuman may be a pain in the butt, but overall I'm getting through these battles pretty quickly as the enemy search points actually spawn much more often in this space in Fornax than they did in the spot I used in Eridanus.
  2. Ugh, that sucks. Well no one said this would be easy. At least it is easier to encounter them in this game than SMTI,II, and IV.
  3. Had about fifty enemy search encounters yesterday. Today I open up my DS only to see that I am a total idiot that turned it off yesterday instead of just closing it. Now I need to search for Black Rider all over again from scratch...
  4. I believe it was a fusion gag from the first two games. They just used those two, though it is most likely has something to do with the Kanji for both of them making a clever pun about Shiva or something.

I can't remember if Barong is locked behind a quest, I don't think so as I'm sure only the Fiends, bosses, and other Search Type enemies are the only ones who are gate locked behind needing to defeat them first. The real pain in the ass class in this game are the ones where only fusion accidents can create them, though SMTIV is far more obnoxious about this.
  5. Well that's good to know. I was just worried because I noticed there's an EX Mission involving Barong, so I wasn't sure 1) if it's alignment-dependent and 2) if I need to clear it to be able to get Barong. And of course, I know Barong and Rangda are the recipe for Shiva since the very beginning. I don't really get the reason for it, though
  6. He's never really difficult to get outside of the level restriction.
  7. Hope I'll get Shiva in this playthrough
  8. There is a skill Shiva and a few other high level demons have that does almighty damage and also debuffs all their stats.
  9. Yeah, I actually heard he's a pushover if you keep debuffing him because he'll just keep buffing himself instead of attacking. I have one or two of those skills that lower his defense or offense by two, so that should be pretty okay. I also have Luster Candy.
  10. I just wanted him because he's basically the poor man's alternative to Squirtle, just like Bellflower is the poor man's Bulbasaur.

Right now I'm trying to evolve a Meowth and Geodude. I also cheesed the Fighting mini-gym with my Haunter and went with Hitmonlee as my prize. While Hitmonchan has better variety in terms of skills, I like Hitmonlee a bit more because actual Fighting Type skills are not as common as I would like. I should probably drag my Machop back into my party.

Black Rider is a bit tricky compared to the earlier Fiends, you need serious debuff magic to deal with him because he basically likes to raise all his stats until you can't do anything anymore and then Megiddo your ass. Save often.
