  1. Oh right - the male Nidoran evolution family are some of my fav Pokemon! So have it stick around and you'll get a decent poke for end-game
  2. You didn't get Pikachu?

Well, hope you get around to playing Silver at least! Gen 2 was my absolute favorite until gen 5 came along. It's a vast improvement over the first games and I've spent so, so many hours on it...

Also! Remember the game doesn't find after the Pokemon League. The post game in gen 1 is pretty weak because basically all that's left after is catching Mewtwo and any other legendaries you haven't caught before. And if you're a collector, you're gonna want to catch them all here - or as many as you can - do that you can trade them into Silver. That game still has pretty much all the gen 1 Pokemon natively in it, but you won't get the legendaries from it there or the starters.
Oh, and you know there's this exploit that lets you get Mew? It's really the only way to get it. I think there was supposed to be an event to distribute it that never happened.
  3. I have a used copy of Silver I picked up a few years ago, but never got around to playing it. I'll probably dive into that after I finish this one, if I'm still in the Pokemon spirit.

I'm three badges in and trying to get to Lavender Town I believe. Going through the Rock Tunnel Dungeon. My team was the three starters, a Clefairy, and Jigglypuff, and a Paras for HM skills but now I'm trying to roll more unique teams. I'm avoiding using old standbys like Kadabra for instance. My current team is Ivysaur, Voltorb, Drowzee, Nidoron, Gyrados, and a Machop I just captured.
  4. Yeah, it's crazy. It's like the 90s again. Everyone at work is talking about Pokemon, and I'm sitting here waiting for it to be officially released in Poland because downloading it on iOS from another country's App Store is more trouble than it's worth. Also, I can't wait until they update it with more Pokemon because the first 151 seem like a small number to fill the whole world with Pokemon.

Will you be playing later generations after blue? How far are you in? What's your party?
  5. Yes, it's actually keeping me from jumping into the Pokemon Go Mania that seems to be going on everywhere.
  6. Does the release of Pokemon Go have anything to do with you playing Blue?
  7. His work has been done better justice than Amano's but that's likely because Yoshida's artwork doesn't look like a Gothic acid trip half the time.
  8. Oh yeah. Though my fav work of his is still XII (and BD kinda, but he's just one of a group of artists there, even if he's the main art director) because of all the colors he uses there, Vagrant Story is fantastic for just being so different, while still being dark and serious. It's also amazing how the art style is remembered very fondly by many gamers, despite being filled with fetishy, BDSM-related and homierotic elements (let's face it, it totally is). It's kind of awesome that this stuff was so endorsed by gamers.

I think the game that most reminds of his VS style is the PSP remake of Tactics Ogre (I know the original had a different direction, despite also being done by Yoshida). There's this washed, brownish palette and a sketchbook-like atmosphere to the portraits.

Oh man, Yoshida should totally just do a graphic novel. I mean, not only are his character designs great, but his paintings are just so beautiful I can't help but think the games he works on just can't do his art justice, even though they really take advantage of it!
  9. Yeah, Yoshida is certainly underrated. I still think his work in Vagrant Story is my favorite.
  10. No, not yet. We're still in the early game. But yeah, I love all the callbacks that I managed to spot. After the weirdness that was FFXIII it's so great to actually play a new game that really feels like Final Fantasy despite being different.

Also, the art is done by Yoshida, and you can really tell by some of the outfits. The armor I just got almost looks like the knoght's armor from Bravely Default, and Ania got a nice robe with intricate details on it and Yoshida's trademark Zettai Ryouriki look, with high boots/stocking and a very short skirt. I just love the art direction. It's not as good or consistent as in XII, but it's really hard to make a game look bad when Yoshida's in charge of the artwork. He's definitely my favorite of the FF artists.
