My guild members in WoW used to call me Kalev. There are so many options!
I'll have to think about it then. It needs to be something original
Whatever you want. People in chat tend to call me Kale.
I'm gonna call you Kal. Or Kalev. Or Vala. Idk, what do you wanna be called?
I know what you mean. I mean, I like it for how important a work it is, but it's not like I enjoy actually reading it.
I still have yet to really familiarize myself with any of Wilde's work. A friend of mine directed a version of The Importance of Being Earnest for our university's drama students recently, so I am familiar with that, and I know the gist of The Picture of Dorian Gray. In fact, Wilde was arrested in my province once, haha. I am one of the few people I know who doesn't like The Great Gatsby. I understand it's an important piece of literature, and I'd recommend that anyone read it if only for it's historical importance, but I'm not a fan of the work at all.
I did enjoy the hell out of Oscar Wilde. The Great Gatsby is also pretty close to my heart and I find it pretty funny how similar in themes it is to Lalka - a very important Polish 19th century novel. I also liked some more contemporary literature by female authors like Beloved. Though I didn't really go into that field for my BA, I still enjoyed the hell out of my literature classes.
Nice! Who/what are some of your favourites?
Well, we did talk about it at school, but I'm not that well-versed in literature. My BA paper was on linguistics and I studied English. So, while I am familiar with it, my knowledge of it is not that in-depth. Ironically, it's the British and American classics that I've analyzed in more detail.
Thank you very much! I'll be sure to post more/offer up some feedback of my own. You mentioned that you are studying Polish-English-German translations. You must be pretty familiar with Conrad's Heart of Darkness.
