  1. Waiting tables generally doesn't require experience, the best thing might be to go in to a restaurant when it's quieter and speak directly to the manager introduce yourself and basically have a chat/mini-interview with them and leave them a copy of your CV to go with it. Generally that works best don't be too up about the job just get to know them, dare I say it flirt a little lol. I've done that in the past and it's worked, everyone starts with no experience, so don't get down about the lack of it. Soul crushing job eh? Was it like trying to get people signing up for Asda credit cards? I haven't had to do that one but well a person I know did, they lasted a couple of days before quitting. If you think it's something to do with your CV you can e-mail me the file and I'll look it over perhaps give you some pointers on making it scream "call me back" at them? Also yes, dropping things is embarassing, dropping pizza on a mans head when he's wearing a white coat is hillarious. x
  2. Lol sounds...fun? XD well you can't really tell that from a CV, apparently I'm not qualified enough to carry plates :S so I don't get a call for an interview. I had one interview and they seemed to like me, but I pulled out cause I didn't like the sound of the job at all. Haven't had an interview since lol but it would've been soul crushing to do that job. I just don't want to be the waitress who's always dropping things to the applause and laughter of the customers XD x
  3. you learn very quickly lol. I was quite clumsy with that kind of thing too before I worked in a restaurant. Now I can carry pretty much anything balanced up on one hand and my shoulder, including things what weigh way too much for it, going to crush my spine one of these days I'm sure lol. Also you're perfectly likable so what their problem is I'll never get x
  4. Yeah I've given my CV into a few restaurants, for the tips if nothing else. Not had a response yet though lol, people don't seem to like me very much XD. My problem would be balancing everything, I'm not good at balancing stuff lol x
  5. it sounds silly but management experience in any type of role goes far, go for bar/restaurant service work, as a waitress you can earn quite good tips (though the job is tough and demanding) I worked as a waiter and my average weekly tips was like £100 - £150 a week (I worked 2 - 3 evenings/nights a week, maybe a morning only) and you can in some companies begin climing their management training programmes within 3 months of working there. Within 6 months you can be a shift manager or assistant manager and within a couple of years if you stuck it out you could end up with your own branch. Not bad on the resume that x
  6. True. I'll jus take whatever job I can find for the moment, never mind too much about what I'll be doing lol x
  7. yeah that is wise. avoid retail like the plague if you can but it's useful to have some experience in it.
  8. Ugh that sucks!!! My boyfriend works in retail too and has to work saturdays, but thankfully he never has a shift like that! He always has a five day week. That's why I don't want to get a job in retail if I can avoid it, I'd rather have regular hours and know where I stand with my free time x
  9. I work 5 but in retail you get 1 day off in the week, and have sundays off apart from 1 in a month which I have to work. Still sucks though last week was my sunday shift so I worked 7 days straight! x
  10. That sounds awesome shame about work though. You work 6 days a week? Seems like a lot x
