If 10,000+ posts is your idea of slow how many would you have if you posted at my rate?
Don't worry, a lot of people pass me by. I am a slow poster.
I just realized I have more posts than you. I think I should probably reflect on my life choices.
And in that time you have learned our strengths and weaknesses and are ready to launch your invasion?

It showed how adaptable Mario was IMO. I never looked at it and went, "This isn't a Mario game." I was just like, "Yeah! Mario! YAY!" The only thing that would have made it even more awesome is if you could play up to four players.
To be fair the actual Mario 2 was basically a rom hack feeling game before rom hacks were a thing. Though I do agree the the Mario 2 we got was vastly different. As for it being better than Sonic 2? Man, that's tough for me. Sonic 2 did trim some fat and came out much more polished than the first game. I would say it edges out Mario 2 ultimately.
Sonic 3 was the first and only Sonic game I actually played on a Genesis. That was the biggest irony of my time with the console. Despite Sonic being their mascot, I rarely played any Sonic games on it. I got so much trout from Sonic fans last year when I gave the victory to Mario 2. Even that decision surprised me. I thought for sure Sonic 2 would win it, but it felt like too much of a rehash of the first one in hindsight. And Mario 2 couldn't have been anymore different if it tried.
I love the Sonic games, but I personally prefer Mario 3 over Sonic 3.
