They currently don't make enough to pay their writers, but they offer a lot of commendations and it's getting more exposure for my work, so I can't complain. As far as starting platforms go it isn't half bad. They only require a minimum of two contributions a week. I already do reviews once a week and I have 74 older works I can offer them in addition. They also don't always require reviews. They also take retrospectives and opinion pieces. I also know they only got writers with a PS3 recently so my PS3 reviews would probably be of benefit since I know they're trying to get a contract with Sony.
I don't feel it is too hard to discuss graphics it just feel tedious and shallow to do so, but if I was getting paid for it, I will have no issue discussing pixels and framerate.
I'm assuming it's online, so I should be fine. I already know some of the questions they're going to ask. Right now my main concerns are if I get the job and I'll have to write more about graphics and sound in my reviews since that's what a lot of gamers put the most stock in these days, and IMO there's only so many ways you can talk about graphics and things like music, and voice acting. They do offer mentoring, though.
Congratulations. It's normal to be nervous, I was a wreck for my first interview, but just stay calm and try to be down to earth. I mean be professional, but don't be so formal like you were in the military or talking to your sweet old grandma, bosses appreciate seeing the day-to-day you. Though I doubt you'll need much advise, just show them how good your review channel has been going and they should get a good idea of your cred.
So, I applied for a job at a video game website called Continue Play. It's a small site that started off as a blog, but they seem to be having some success since I know they're working with some developers like Bethesda, Ubisoft, Namco, and so on. I managed to get an interview. My first job interview ever. I'm excited, and nervous.
Pretty much.
Sounds like Hollywood.
Just make interesting threads, and when you can't do that, just remake an old thread.
I see you have recaptured the mighty black chocobo. What's your secret?
I'm going to get so much trout for my Worst Villain post.
