Well at least you're getting a balanced approach so that's good. Makes me feel I should have been harder on you to make you a bit more prepared.
I submitted Finding Franco, one of my latest stories in the prompt thread. I have a total of five reviews now, two are brutal, two are very balanced, and one was actually incredibly positive, so overall it's pretty encouraging, if shocking to finally see your work under such detailed critique. I was obsessed with Gurren Lagann as a teen, but overtime I've started noticing more and more of its flow. I just think I saw it at the right time, since it was so rebellious and full of energy which I think just spoke to a teenaged brain really well.
It's been interesting, the game definitely plays favorites though (like most of these games tend to do) so I'm a little sad some series are less represented that others while some series have 70-90% of the cast/mecha available. Gurren Lagaan was an interesting parody of the Super Robot Genre. I enjoyed it but not to the extent some of my friends do though most of them are not really fans of the genre so perhaps that's where our opinions differ. So you're first review was pretty brutal was it? Which story did you submit?
Hmm. That sounds cute Glad you get to enjoy all your mecha! Dont tell Formy, though, lest he calls you infantile I personally don't have much experience with humongous mecha but I like the idea itself and J enjoyed what I've seen. Have you seen Gurren Lagann? It's pretty stupid and crazy, but it also seems like a good tribute to the genre as a whole. By the way, received my first critiques on Scrib. It hit me much harder than I expected
It's Dynasty Warriors, if you've played one, you've played them all. Basically take an RPG, remove any good plot and engaging boss battles and you are basically left with just grinding. That's the series in a nutshell. It's fun more for the fanboy aspect. Not a great game but it is kind of cool to pick out a favorite Gundam and just mow down hordes of enemies with it. The game is basically Dissidia with the different characters across the franchise all being tossed together in a world. The only aspect that's kind of interesting is that the heroes don't necessarily trust each other and some of the villains are able to make inroads if their corresponding hero isn't there. For instance, imagine playing through Dissidia where Firion wasn't there and Emperor Mateus was teamed up with Barts and Zidane to "help them". So that angle is kind of amusing.
Is it good?
Escaflowne is pretty cool, Robotech is one of my favorites though it's more of a U.S. thing. With that said, check out Macross franchise and possibly Gundam. I've actually been researching a bit for a story I want to write with giant robots. To explain how much my obsession has led me, I actually picked up Gundam Dynasty Warriors despite not really liking Dynasty Warriors...
Yeah, giant robots are cool. Though I haven't seen many anime with them, oddly enough. Basically just Eva and Tengen Toopa Gurren Lagann. I hope to see Vision of Escaflowne soon, though!
Tired, and in a hardcore mecha mood for some reason... Kind of forgot how much I love giant robots.
So how's the Wolf?
