  1. Of course. But I'm still kinda miffed with the attention some stuff gets, and cultural osmosis and stuff. And then there's always the dissonance of "Oh, you're a gamer too? Cool! What'd you think of the latest Halo thing?"
  2. No problem, and as I said, you may shift as time goes by. I used to also exclusively play RPGs for awhile there but the drought of quality entries last gen kind of forced me to really expand my horizon into different paths, which turned out for the best I feel. I think the main thing to really take away from all this is that in the end, you're looking at entertainment and while everything can't be set to your ideals, there are still good things out there.
  3. It's still kinda weird since I always felt particular, as I practically play RPGs exclusively. Now it just seems like I'm closing myself further, and I just hate that kinda snobbism. Still, thanks for the advice It makes it a bit easier to rationalize this
  4. I feel that goes away as well once you accept the fact you're now just particular. Even then, it doesn't hurt to gamble and try something outside your comfort zone.
  5. Well, I'll try to look at the bright side. Though this cynicism is a bit overwhelming.
  6. As long as you recognize that your being a bit too hipster for your own good and tone it down, I wouldn't worry about it. The one nice aspect of being a bit picky is that you actually open up more time to devote to other things like writing. I also tend to like retro communities though I do avoid some of their forums cause I'm tired of the "my toy is better than your toy" debate. I don;t game as much as I used to but what I have played has been pretty sweet.
  7. I'm... not sure how I feel about this. I mean, I kinda wish I could be as excited as all these people hailing all these ganes like they're the best things since sliced bread, but something inside me is just like "nnnnnnope", and it's kinda bad. Maybe my cynicism stems partly from the fgact that my games get little to no recognition. I don't know. I'm not sure I like what I'm becoming in that regard.
  8. I think that's something that just happens as you get older. I was a lot more super excited for the FF series back in the day and there was a time I genuinely enjoyed games I tend t criticize while openly mocked the older entries.
  9. I think I may have become a gaming hipster and I blame you for it But seriously, it's weird how at home I feel with DQ and SMT and I've discovered I've become much more cynical towards more mainstream games,
  10. Not to brag too much, but I have an eye for these things
